Minutes of the Board of Directors
Regular Meeting,
August 17, 2026 at 6pm
Prospect Library – Meeting Room
Mike Pearson called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
Attending: Mike Pearson, Pam Lee, Gunner Gibson, Joyce Dierking.
Natalie Williams was absent.
Also Attending: Fire Chief Lyle Neville, and 3 other community members. Bob Jones (financial officer) was absent.
Approval of minutes. Pam made a motion to approve the July minutes, seconded by Joyce. Mike voted yes, Pam voted yes, Gunner voted yes, Joyce voted yes, Natalie was absent. Motion passed. 4-0
Additions to the Agenda were added:
- Resolution for discussion of the septic situation.
- Krisinda has an update on the hydrant system.
In Bob’s absence the board reviewed the financial report themselves. Joyce made a motion to approve the financial report, seconded by Pam. Mike voted yes, Pam voted yes, Gunner voted yes, Joyce voted yes, Natalie was absent. Motion passed.
Mike Pearson read resolution #26-09 aloud to the Board members. To provide the septic repair funds $15,000 necessary, this resolution details transferring funds from the following budget categories: funds transfer of 8,000 from contingency 3,000 from Legal, 2,000 from training, 2,000 from equipment repair fund, these funds are from the current approved budget. It was decided by the Board Members to proceed with the signing of the resolution, in Natalie’s absence, as this issue has already been discussed with Natalie in the recent past. This issue had already been voted on and approved, Pam Lee motioned to approve, Gunner 2nd, to adopt the resolution. Mike yes, Gunner yes, Joyce yes, Pam yes. Natalie as secretary can sign when she returns. Motion passed.
Lyle gave his monthly Chief's report. He updated on the septic project, expected to begin this week. He mentioned that an inspection of the building in Lion’s park shows an infestation of ants and termites and that work will be completed this month, estimated cost $2-3000 dollars.
A new flag and flagpole are being installed at Station One, most materials are donated and the project will be completed by Sept. 11.
Volunteer training continues every Tuesday evening. Provided an update on grant funds and their use. Community partnerships are continuing to thrive, we help with mutual aid when available, and provided EMS services to the Prospect Jamboree and Timber festival. Fuel Reduction efforts will continue, when fire restrictions are lifted with 2 employees until the end of the year.
Krisinda Gibson reported on the hydrant project, she is collecting bids and received a grant from PPL for $5000 to use toward the hydrant project. PPL will provide a separate power drop at no cost.
The Board scheduled a work meeting for Sat. Sept. 12 1:00 at the Crater RV park.
The meeting was opened for public comment. Melissa Taylor thanked the Fire department for their support for the Jamboree.
Pam made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Joyce. Mike voted yes, Pam voted yes, Gunner voted yes, Joyce voted yes. Adjourned at 6:48pm.
